TCEQ’s Administrative Support teams contribute to our mission by getting things done efficiently and effectively. Positions are immediately available in TCEQ’s Office of Air, Water, Waste, and Compliance and Enforcement.  Many positions have an opportunity for HYBRID work schedule.



TCEQ Administrative Assistants play key roles in providing customer service and supporting their respective teams. As an Administrative Assistant, you will use your skills and experience to:

1.      Provide overall administrative support to staff within a section or division and be a main point of contact for administrative procedures, such as timekeeping.

2.      Prepare, distribute, monitor, and maintain filing systems for routine and special correspondence, reports, forms, notifications, guidance documents, and/or projects.

3.      Welcome visitors; answer, screen, and route incoming phone calls; and provide program area and TCEQ information. 

4.      Coordinate and schedule meetings, appointments, and travel for management and staff. 

5.      Maintains office supplies and may coordinate the ordering and purchasing of supplies or equipment. 

6.      May coordinate administrative support assignments with management, respond to requests for information and coordinate administrative work between organizational units of the TCEQ. 

Qualifications - External

Minimum Qualifications

· Administrative Assistant III: High school diploma/GED plus 3 years of full-time equivalent administrative support in an office setting.

· Administrative Assistant IV: High school diploma/GED plus 5 years of full-time equivalent administrative support in an office setting.

*** Fifteen semester hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for each six months of the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, including Word, Excel, and/or Access.

· Experience using payroll or timesheet software. 

· Experience with purchasing goods/services and/or working with contracts.
