Job Purpose: The Community Recruitment Specialist is responsible for building positive relationships within our community to recruit youth members and adult volunteers to create opportunities for them to participate in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience through community-based, school-based, and youth-centered partnerships in underrepresented communities.

Essential Functions

  • Increases Girl Scouts visibility and engagement in our community through networking and collaboration.
  • Establishes, cultivates, and maintains partnerships with schools, community organizations, faith-based organizations, and businesses to promote and deliver Girl Scouting within assigned community.
  • Researches and identifies neighborhoods currently underserved by Girl Scouts, gaining an understanding of community needs, and working with other departments at Girl Scouts of Central Texas to establish a service delivery opportunity to meet those needs.
  • Develops and executes data-driven membership recruitment plans to meet or exceed annual membership recruitment and lead generation goals for girl and adult members.
  • Plans and executes events that increase community awareness of the benefits and outcomes of Girl Scouts and bring more members and volunteers to our movement.
  • Collaborates closely with member-facing departments to achieve create and achieve goals, create a seamless customer experience, and maintain quality and reliable data.
  • Ensures all grassroots engagements activities establish and maintain access to Girl Scouting among a diverse population.
  • Informs Resource Development proposals and grants based on experience in working with the community.
  • Ensures girl membership that achieves expectations and goals established for funding source regulations.
  • Collaborates with other departments to cultivate new program delivery partners and financial sponsorships and grants.
  • Collaborates with staff in other departments to place new members and volunteers to ensure a positive onboarding experience.
  • Performs other duties or assists other projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • One to two years of experience in community development including school partnerships.
  • One to two years of experience in recruiting, sales, and management of volunteers.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills to ensure effective interactions with individuals at all levels and backgrounds and to promote an environment of inclusivity across a wide geographic area.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, work independently, take initiative, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proven record of customer responsiveness and active listening skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative in making decisions.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Texas drivers license, a safe driving record, current vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation to travel within Girl Scouts of Central Texas region.
  • Ability to commit to Girl Scouts philosophy, both nationally and locally.
  • Annual membership in GSUSA.
  • Satisfactory results from a criminal background check.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • Working Sandler Training knowledge.
  • Experience with customer relationship management tools and databases.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Capable of lifting up to 30lbs.
  • Capable of viewing computer monitor for long periods.


Environmental Demands

  • Continuous indoor activity and exposure to florescent light.
  • Outdoor activities and exposure to weather.
  • Work some nights and weekends, as needed.
  • Frequent work under stress and under pressure of deadlines.
