The City of Austin Development Services Department is seeking to fill two Engineer C positions in the Transportation Engineering and Permitting Division. The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:
- Planning, Design including Constructability of Design.
- Construction including construction scheduling, maintenance and ADA guidelines
This position will review transportation design and planning with emphasis on the constructability of the design. A key component of this position will be the collaboration with transportation planners to help strategize future transportation infrastructure.
Education and/or Equivalent Experience: Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus eight (8) years engineering experience acquired either before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.
Licenses or Certifications:
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in State of Texas
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of City of Austin and State of Texas transportation design criteria, standards, specifications, rules and regulations.
- Experience with the City of Austin’s developmental processes including the permitting and plan review processes.
- Registered Accessibility Specialist (RAS) or related experience.
- Experience leading and coordinating technical and engineering teams for duties related to preparing, reviewing, and approving plans for transportation systems, such as roadways, railways, waterways, and intermodal operations.
- Extensive field experience with site plans and site plan corrections involving impacted utilities and transportation systems.
- Experience interacting effectively with the public to resolve challenging and highly technical engineering and customer issues.
- Strong technical writing, presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to travel to multiple locations.
