Austin Water is currently hiring for the following position:

Engineer A, B, or C (Corrections Engineer)


Minimum Qualifications:

Engineer A:


Education and/or Equivalent Experience: 

  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years engineering experience acquired either before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.


Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas.



Engineer B:


Education and/or Equivalent Experience: 

  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to engineering, plus six (6) years experience in engineering, acquired either before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.


Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas.


Engineer C:


Education and/or Equivalent Experience: 

  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus eight (8) years engineering experience acquired either before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.


Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Knowledge of City of Austin’s and State of Texas water and wastewater design criteria, standards, specifications, rules, and regulations
  • Experience with the City of Austin’s development processes including the permitting and plan review processes
  • Experience coordinating technical and engineering teams, preparing, reviewing and approving plans for water and wastewater infrastructure in which dry and other wet utilities already exist
  • Extensive field experience with site, subdivisions, CIPs and General Permit plans, site plan exemptions and site plan corrections involving water, wastewater, electric, telecommunications, gas, and drainage facilities
  • Experience interacting effectively with the public to resolve challenging and highly technical engineering and customer issues
  • Strong technical writing, presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to travel to more than one work location


Hours:

  • Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with some flexibility.
  • Other hours as required to meet the needs of 24/7 utility operations.


Pay Range:

  • Engineer A: $33.52 to $43.58 per hour
  • Engineer B: $35.53 to $46.19 per hour
  • Engineer C: $37.30 to $49.43 per hour
