Position Overview

This position works in a team environment for Facility Management to respond to various kinds of maintenance and repair requests including, but not limited to, plumbing, electrical, construction, remodeling, or mechanical. This position also works with various vendor contracts to ensure Austin Water’s business needs are being met. The Facility Service Specialist can expect to be working in a hands-on capacity to fulfill the expected duties for this role.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education and/or Equivalent Experience: 

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus four (4) years relevant work experience.

Licenses or Certifications:

  • Class C Driver License.
  • If required by position: Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL). Specific endorsements may be required to be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to bend, lift, walk, carry, or use a force equal to lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with basic construction and maintenance including electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance
  • Familiar with building amenities to include elevators, fire suppression, extinguishers, and landscaping
  • Familiar with contractual relationships and usage
  • Familiar with developing spreadsheets, cost calculations and contract allocations
  • Possess any of the following certifications: Building Operator Certification (BOC), Facility Management Professional (FMP), Certified Facility Manager (CFM), or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification


Pay Range:

$24.10 – $30.72


Hours:

7:00am – 3:30pm, Monday – Friday.

Physical Requirement: This position will require that you be able to bend, lift, walk, carry, or use a force equal to lifting up to fifty (50) pounds, unassisted.

  • Verification of your education (which may include high school graduation or GED, undergraduate and/or graduate degrees) will be required. You must provide proof of education from an accredited organization/institution and proof of your professional licenses or certifications.
  • If you are in the military or a veteran, you will need to provide a copy of your DD-214 prior to confirming a start date.
  • This position requires a criminal background investigation.


Driving Requirement: This position requires a Valid Class C Driver’s License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.
