Minimum Qualifications:

The position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon qualifications:


Graduate Engineer A: 

  • Education and/or Equivalent Experience: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job.
  • Licenses and Certifications Required: None.

 

Graduate Engineer B: 

  • Education and/or Equivalent Experience: Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline with at least two (2) years of engineering experience.
  • Licenses or Certifications: State of Texas Engineer-In-Training Certification.

 

Engineer A: 

  • Education and/or Equivalent Experience: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years engineering experience acquired either before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.
  • Licenses or Certifications: State of Texas Professional Engineer License.

 

Engineer B: 

  • Education and/or Equivalent Experience: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus six (6)years engineering experience acquired either before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.
  • Licenses or Certifications: State of Texas Professional Engineer License at the time of hire.

 

Engineer C: 

  • Education and/or Equivalent Experience: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus eight (8) years engineering experience acquired either before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.
  • Licenses or Certifications: State of Texas Professional Engineer License at the time of hire.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering and a Texas Professional Engineer License or Engineer in Training License
  • Experience in capital improvement project planning and management related to water and wastewater lines
  • Experience working successfully with state and local government agencies and departments in underground utility design and construction projects involving major road reconstruction requiring relocation of water and wastewater lines along State Highways and County roads. Experience in relocation of water and wastewater lines along new proposed light rail alignment is a plus
  • Experience in project management and sponsorship, overseeing projects related to design, construction and rehabilitation of water and wastewater lines including reviewing and evaluating Requests for Information (RFI’s) submitted by contractors
  • Ability to travel to more than one work location


This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon candidate qualifications:

  • Graduate Engineer A: $29.83 to $38.78 per hour
  • Graduate Engineer B: $31.62 to $41.11 per hour
  • Engineer A: $33.52 to $43.58 per hour
  • Engineer B: $35.53 to $46.19 per hour
  • Engineer C: $37.30 to $49.43 per hour

Travel:

If you are selected for this position and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.
