Minimum Qualifications:

Education and/or Equivalent Experience:

Maintenance Worker II:

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus two (2) years of custodial, building maintenance or construction work.
  • Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of four (4) years.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Texas Class “C” Operator’s License.


Maintenance Worker III:

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus three (3) years of building maintenance and construction work, including heating, cooling, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Relevant work experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of four (4) years.

Licenses or Certifications:

  • Texas Class “C” Operator’s License.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Experience working in a commercial or industrial environment.
  • Experience with Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs.
  • Experience with minor plumbing and water features.


Pay Range:

This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon candidate qualifications:

  • Maintenance Worker II – $15.97 to $18.53 per hour
  • Maintenance Worker III – $18.09 to $22.06 per hour


Hours:

Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:30PM


Location:

Waller Creek Center: 625 E. 10th Street

  • Your skill level in some of the competency areas for this job – specifically Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, will be assessed through skills testing that will be worth 5% of interview score.


If you are selected as a top candidate:

  • Verification of your education (which may include high school graduation or GED, undergraduate and/or graduate degrees) will be required. You must provide proof of education from an accredited organization/institution and proof of your professional licenses or certifications.
  • If you are in the military or a veteran, you will need to provide a copy of your DD-214 prior to confirming a start date.


Driving Requirement:

  • This position requires a Texas Class “C” Operator’s License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisiteTo be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.
  • This position will be required to travel and report to other Austin Water worksites.


Effective October 1, 2014, all Austin Water worksite locations are tobacco-free.

Use of tobacco products and/or e-cigarettes is not permitted on any AW worksite – including construction sites, parking lots, garages or in any personal vehicle located on the premises.
