YOUR FUTURE TEAM

As part of TCEQ’s Office of Water, you would contribute to ensuring clean and available water and protecting Texas’ water resources.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with water rights in Texas.
  • Experience working with water programs.
  • Experience writing briefing materials for management review.

 


HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING...

  • Assist in coordinating and supporting water rights activities and rule development for the Water Rights Permitting & Availability Section of the Water Availability Division of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
  • Develop guidance and procedures to improve permit processing and regulatory processes.
  • Aid management in planning, coordinating, and tracking permit activities; and assist with preparing for, attending, and documenting permit-related meetings.
  • Prepare and review informational material on water rights related topics, and conducts presentations at workgroup meetings, etc.  Track information requests from upper management, media, stakeholders, and legislators.
  • Review and track proposed legislation and assists in rule development.  Analyze legislation to develop recommendations for policy and programmatic issues.  Complete/participate in special projects related to water rights permitting.

 


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field, plus six years of full-time experience in environmental activities. 

One year of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education.

OR

  • A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the degrees listed above, or related fields plus five years of the required experience.

OR

  • A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, science, environmental science or related fields plus four years of the required experience.

OR

  • Two years of full-time experience as a Natural Resources Specialist IV at the TCEQ.
