Position Overview

This position is responsible for carrying out inspections and sample collection events to determine pollutant levels and assess customer compliance with regulations. This position will also be conducting plan reviews and issuing approvals to ensure customers and customer projects meet applicable pretreatment regulations for general, categorical, and significant industrial users.

Minimum Qualifications

Pretreatment Compliance Specialist:

Bachelor’s degree with major/minor course work in a scientific field related to the job, plus three (3) years of relevant experience; or

Associate’s degree in a scientific field related to the job, plus five (5) years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree with major course work in a scientific field related to the job, plus one (1) years of relevant experience.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License.

Pretreatment Compliance Specialist Senior:

Bachelor’s degree with major/minor course work in a scientific field related to the job, plus five (5) years of relevant experience; or

Associate’s Degree in a scientific field related to the job, plus Seven (7) years of relevant experience; or

Master’s degree with major course work in a scientific field related to the job, plus Three (3) years of relevant experience.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with pretreatment or environmental investigations, or other regulatory compliance related activities.
Experience sampling, field testing, and monitoring wastewater or other environmental media.
Experience reviewing building and construction plans and specifications for compliance with regulations.

Hours

Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm, with some flexibility and teleworking options
May work other hours as business needs require

Pay Range

This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon candidate qualifications:

Pretreatment Compliance Specialist: $22.95 to $29.26 per hour
Pretreatment Compliance Specialist Senior: $28.15 to $36.59 per hour

Verification of your education (which may include high school graduation or GED, undergraduate and/or graduate degrees) will be required. You must provide proof of education from an accredited organization/institution and proof of your professional licenses or certifications.
If you are in the military or a veteran, you will need to provide a copy of your DD-214 prior to confirming a start date.
Selected candidate will be required to complete and pass a pre-employment physical exam to be considered for the position.
This position requires a criminal background investigation.

Driving Requirement:

This position requires a Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.
