YOUR FUTURE TEAM

As part of TCEQ Administrative Services, you would help support the logistical and operational structure for TCEQ statewide -- the business foundation for the whole agency. See details about what we do.

This position is a member of our Information Resources Division.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As a part of the division’s Business Automation team, our Programmer will play a key role in achieving TCEQ’s mission. You would use your skills and experience to:

  • Lead and/or participate in the analysis, development, programming, and implementation/modification of agency software applications for the Information Resources Division of the TCEQ.
  • Review and evaluate coding best practices, techniques, and training needs.
  • Lead and/or perform coding and design tasks for application maintenance, support, and development based on requirements and design documentation and adhering to agency standards.
  • Coordinate testing and Quality Assurance/Quality tasks.
  • Create charters, developing business cases, and providing project plans and status reports. Participate in sponsor meetings, create requirements documentation, and facilitate joint application development (JAD) sessions.
  • Provide customer support to agency staff specific to agency applications, IT policies, and general related IT areas.

 

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Six years of full-time experience in computer programming, computer system administration, and/or systems analysis.

OR

  • A master’s degree from an accredited college or university, or technical college with a major in computer science, plus three years of full-time experience in computer programming, computer system administration, and/or systems analysis.

OR

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 12 semester hours in computer science, plus four years of full-time experience in computer programming, computer system administration, and/or systems analysis.

OR

  • Completion of 30 semester hours (600 clock hours) in computer science from a licensed vocational, technical or business school or accredited college, plus four years of full-time experience in computer programming, computer system administration, and/or systems analysis.

OR

  • Completion of 15 semester hours (300 clock hours) in computer science from a licensed vocational, technical or business school or accredited college, plus five years of full-time experience in computer programming, computer system administration, and/or systems analysis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience programming with ColdFusion, Java, Hibernate, Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL, Java Script, CSS, XML, and/or HTML.
  • Experience with configuration management, quality assurance, and/or change management.
  • Experience performing business analysis work to include writing requirements, design and test plan documentation, and/or facilitating JAD sessions.
