Regional Controller (M&A)

NATURE OF POSITION:
The regional controller is a senior level finance professional and provides a critical leadership role within the organization directly supporting the Director of Finance with M&A and the associated integrations. The controller will serve as “business partner” to their technical counterparts (Regional GM, District GM) and together, will take full ownership of P&L, balance sheet and cash generation for each acquisition. Their primary objective is to drive revenue and EBITDA growth creating shareholder value while ensuring individual district achieves revenue and EBITDA budgets.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct support of M&A activity and the Director of Finance
- Acquisitions : Front line on new acquisitions
- Point role within the acquisition/integration team
- Partnering with “newco” to help facilitate transition
- Standardize business practices
- Centralize accounting functions into shared services
- Identify duplicate cost and economies of scale
- Full financial “ownership” – P&L, BS & cash generation
- Budgeting/forecasting
- “Real time analysis” o Daily, weekly, monthly o Sales, COGS, margin
- Identifying anomalies and taking corrective actions prior to month end close
- Early “warning” communication if expected deviations from budget or forecast
- Budget vs actual
- Variance analysis
- Proactive management to ensure individual targets are met
o Revenue tracking and analysis
- Inspection – Growth, trend, margin
- Service – Growth, trend, margin
- Service Projects – Growth, trend, margin
- Projects – Growth, trend, margin o Indirect expense of other cost of sales (OCOS) and general administration (GA)
- Ensuring cost are booked timely
- Expense items are booked in the proper account (where budgeted)
- Ensure proper accruals are generated if cost is missing o Variance analysis
- Communications and explanation of deviations
- Month-End close o Adhere to month end close schedule
o Ensure billings and revenue recognition are performed within guidelines o Review of goods movement - Inventory
Cash generation o Conduct weekly accounts receivables review o Drive DSO to 60 days or below o Mitigate bad debt write offs
- Facilitate resolution of unidentified payments to ensure applied to appropriate invoice
- Accounting activities o Ensure district specific balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly
- Accounts receivables

- Year end audit o Specific PBC items will be assigned to each regional controller
- Ensure items are delivered on time
- Ensure all proper documentation is provided
- Available for direct communication to resolve any discrepancies

- Provide ad hoc analytical support to influence decision making with financial perspective.

- QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a highly analytical field required with 5-10 years of relevant business experience
- Extremely high proficiency in building financial and decision support models
- Strong communication and presentation skills with ability to present complex financial analyses to executive leaders clearly and concisely
- Ability to translate large amounts of data into useful information and actionable priorities
- Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workload
- Experience in service or project industry is a plus
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and other MS Office applications
- Successful completion of a drug test and pre-employment background screening is required. MVR checks are required for all driving positions.
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Statistics or Accounting or
- Master's degree in Business Administration or Finance
- Certificates in Great Plains & Microsoft Excel, preferred
- Certificates in Accounting (CPA) or Finance (CF), preferred
