Tax Associate

As a member of the Luminex tax team, the Tax Associate will have an opportunity to develop tax technical skills and be involved in a variety of assignments in property tax, indirect tax, and federal, state and foreign income tax compliance. This position reports to the Director of Tax, and will work with the existing tax team in a variety of tax and accounting functions. The ideal candidate should have great attention to detail, the ability to work on multiple projects, and experience establishing productive working relationships with colleagues.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Complete tax fixed asset reconciliations and reporting for property and income tax.
  • Maintain tax depreciation and amortization schedules in tax fixed asset and property tax software.
  • Support the compliance processes for U.S. federal, state, and foreign corporate income tax.
  • Assist with Canadian indirect tax analysis and reporting.
  • Maintain general ledger tax account reconciliations and make journal entries for Canadian indirect and property taxes.
  • Assist with preparation of transfer pricing reports.
  • Provide assistance with tax audits including information gathering and status records.
  • Research tax issues and document and communicate findings.
  • Other projects, as assigned.

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Tax, Accounting, or Finance
  • Master's degree and/or CPA license preferred
  • Tax professional with 1-2 years' experience related to income tax, tax accounting, or financial accounting
  • Experience in a public firm or corporate tax department

 

Training and Skills:

 

  • Working knowledge of tax related GAAP and tax accounting methods, including income tax law and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of tax software programs such as Gosystems, Prosystems, and Onesource Property Tax and sales and use tax compliance software (Vertex, Sabrix or similar).
  • Knowledge of Oracle or ERP systems is a plus.
  • Moderate level of research skills for determining applicability of laws and regulations.
  • Able to meet deadlines, handle confidential data, and have attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management attributes with ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

 

Work Conditions:

 

  • Must work onsite at Luminex office at least 90% of the time
  • No travel required
