This position offers an opportunity for a hybrid work schedule with a minimum 2-day work in office.

 

YOUR FUTURE TEAM

As part of TCEQ’s Office of Waste, you would contribute to agency efforts to regulate the generation, treatment, storage, and disposal of various wastes and the cleanup of contaminated sites. See details about what we do.

This position is a member of our Radioactive Materials Division.

 

Here's what you'll be doing...

  • Preform technical reviews of submittals under the supervision of an engineer for waste management and fluid injection, including regulatory classification and status of waste pursuant to state and federal regulations and statutes for the TCEQ.
  • Under the supervision of an engineer with UIC expertise, perform technical reviews, field assessments, and evaluations of permit applications, reports, certifications, notices of waste management activities, and correspondence to determine compliance with applicable laws, rules, technical principles, policies, and procedures. Maintain accurate, organized, and complete records of reviews and correspondence.
  • Under the supervision of an engineer with UIC expertise, interpret and apply state and federal statutes and regulations applicable to the UIC program.
  • Assist staff and customer by providing program information through verbal communication, correspondence, meetings, presentations, and responses to Public Information Requests.

Qualifications - External

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, basic science, mathematics, environmental science, computer science or a related field, plus five years of full-time experience in performing engineering, technical, or related assignments. 

*One year of full-time experience in performing engineering, technical, or related assignments may be substituted for each year of the required education.

OR

A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the specified fields plus four years of full-time experience in performing engineering, technical, or related assignments.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with the design, construction and/or plugging of injection wells, production wells or water wells.
  • MS or higher-level degree with a major in civil, petroleum, mechanical, nuclear, environmental, or geological engineering.
