This position offers a work life balance with an opportunity for a hybrid work schedule with a minimum 2-day work in office. 


KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with public speaking, and/or giving presentations.
  • Experience coordinating and organizing special events.
  • Experience using Adobe Acrobat Products – Photoshop, Design, and Illustrator.
  • Experience with website design and maintenance.
  • Experience handling multiple tasks and/or distilling technical information.
  • Experience producing communication products for outreach and education.

 

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING...

  • Coordinate, facilitate, and track the Engage Communities actions of The Galveston Bay Plan by staffing and guiding the Public Participation and Education (PPE) committee of the Galveston Bay Council, including work groups of the PPE committee.
  • Organize the informational needs of the program, including program websites, developing public information materials for staff, media, stakeholder groups, partners, and the public.
  • Plan and execute public information programs, conferences, seminars, workshops, and meetings.
  • Procure goods and services through contracts and inter-agency agreements with outside organizations to accomplish implementation of specific initiatives and track and assure completion of deliverables.
  • Consult with and advise partners and stakeholders in the development and implementation of initiatives to implement Engage Communities of The Galveston Bay Plan.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor’s degree with a major in journalism, public relations, advertising, communications, English, or a natural resources or science related field, plus three years of full-time experience in writing, scripting, editing, related areas in communications, or in positions involving such activities as journalism, outreach, public relations, advertising, preparation of public information releases and reports, and other news materials, or performing related activities in a public or private enterprise.

  • Four years of full-time experience in writing, scripting, editing, related areas communications, or in positions involving such activities as journalism, outreach, public relations, advertising, preparation of public information releases and reports, and other news materials, or performing related activities in a public or private enterprise.
  • Transcripts/ College Hours or Course Work: See instructions on how to attach documents. A copy of your official college transcript or evaluation of foreign credentials in CAPPS is required if needed to meet the qualifications listed above.
