Position Overview:

This position is part of the CIP Mobility team which includes work related to the City’s Project Connect initiative, the 2016 Bond Transportation Corridor Program improvements, and other Austin Water infrastructure relocations due to ongoing TxDOT highway improvements projects.


Minimum Qualifications:


Graduate Engineer A:

Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

None.


Graduate Engineer B:

Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a related field, plus two (2) years of experience in engineering.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

Texas: Engineer – In Training Certification.



Engineer A:

Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years of engineering experience acquired before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, must have the ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment.



Engineer B:

Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to engineering, plus six (6) years of experience in engineering acquired before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, must have the ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience with condition assessment and performing analysis, review, and evaluation of large and complex sets of data
  • Experience with design of water and sewer pipes including relocation of water and wastewater lines along State Highways and County roads
  • Experience regularly interacting with different levels of personnel throughout an organization and adapting communication styles to meet the needs of internal and external customers
  • Experience in presenting and communicating technical information in a clear and concise manner
  • Experience with GIS
  • Ability to travel to more than one work location


Pay Range:

  • Graduate Engineer A – $29.83 – $38.78
  • Graduate Engineer B – $31.62 – $41.11
  • Engineer A – $33.52 – $43.58
  • Engineer B – $35.53 – $46.19


Hours:

Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM, with some flexibility.
